When EsDeeKid took the stage at Rolling Loud Orlando 2026, he stormed a castle and cause fight between knights. His set, complete with a massive inflatable castle façade, four fire-breathing gargoyles, and a posse of live knights in shining armor, was one of the most talked-about moments of the entire festival. Inflatable Design Group was proud to have helped bring his vision to life with custom stage inflatables build that pushed the limits of what a festival set can look like.
The Challenge of Designing for a Festival Stage
Music festivals run on a very tight schedule. Between set times, production crews have a short amount of time, sometimes as little as 15 to 30 minutes, to break down one artist’s setup and get the next one ready. That kind of time pressure rules out a lot of traditional staging options. Heavy structures, complex rigging, and custom-built sets that require full crews and hours of labor simply do not fit the reality of festival production.
That is why more artists and creative directors are turning to stage inflatables for their festival stage sets. These inflatables are lightweight, they pack down small, and they go up fast. A build that might take a traditional set design crew a couple of hours to assemble can often be inflated and secured in a fraction of that time. EsDeeKid’s Stage Inflatables: Inside the Build
For EsDeeKid’s Rolling Loud debut, IDG built multiple signature inflatable pieces that brought his medieval concept to life in a way that was both theatrical and technically impressive.
The centerpiece of his stage set was a nearly 45-foot-wide, 13-foot-tall digitally printed inflatable castle façade with fully functional castle doors, which the rapper bust through to make his entrance at the start of his set. He then performed in front of the castle as well as on top of it, standing on a hidden platform that gave the illusion he was perched directly on the inflatable castle.
On each side of the inflatable castle stage set were two custom 8-foot-tall inflatable gargoyles. Each one was manufactured with a tube running through the center so they could breathe actual fire during EsDeeKid’s performance making them into active, fire-spitting elements of the show that reacted to the music and added to the medieval atmosphere EsDeeKid created for his set.
According to an article on Stereogum, EsDeeKid “stormed the caslte at his Rollign Loud debut” and came equipped with “a castle backdrop, a posse of knights in shining armor, and a flaming sword.” For an artist who played his first headline show less than a year before this performance, the ambition of the production was amazing, and the stage inflatables helped add to the show.
Why Stage Inflatables Deliver at Scale
There is a reason large-scale inflatables keep showing up at some of the biggest moments in live entertainment. They are immersive and easy to transform a giant space in a matter of minutes. For MGK’s concert tour, IDG designed a custom inflatable set that could be reconfigured to work in full-size stadiums and scaled down for tighter festival stage footprints, so he could use the same prices across his entire run without rebuilding and redesigning his set based on the venue. That kind of adaptability is something traditional scenic builds can’t match.
