More than 135,000 comic and pop culture lovers took over downtown San Diego last weekend for San Diego Comic-Con. This annual convention is the ultimate gathering for fans of comics, movies, TV shows, and all things pop culture. Every year it transforms downtown San Diego into pop culture paradise with buildings being wrapped in new show advertisements and bars and restaurants transforming their space into different themed experiences. Fans also flock to experience exclusive previews, panels with their favorite stars, and immersive experiences that transport them into their favorite fictional worlds.
Over the past few years, Inflatable Design Group has had the pleasure of working with different companies and brands to create custom inflatables for Comic Con. This year we worked with one of our favorite returning clients, Adult Swim, to create multiple Comic Con inflatables that were used as part of their Adult Swim Pirate Parrty. These Adult Swim inflatables added an unforgettable visual element to the festivities. They captured attention and also enhanced the interactive experience for attendees, demonstrating the power of custom inflatables in creating memorable event atmospheres at events like Comic Con.
Comic Con Inflatables at the Adult Swim Pirate Parrty on the Green
Every Comic-Con the popular adult TV network, Adult Swim, takes over the field behind the San Diego Convention Center with a giant interactive exhibit showcasing some of their most popular shows and previewing new shows coming to the network.
As always, Adult Swim brought their A-game to Comic-Con with a giant pirate themed party filled with interactive activities and photo opportunities. Among the excitement were 6 of Inflatable Design Group’s custom Comic Con inflatables.
1. Inflatable Dinosaur Photo Opportunity
This fun and unique photo opportunity was a massive inflatable dinosaur that allowed attendees to sit on it and capture memorable photos. This installation was a huge hit, drawing long lines of fans eager to snap a unique photo.
2. Rick and Morty Ladder Crawl
This interactive inflatable challenged fans to crawl up a ladder without falling onto the inflatable below. Those who successfully crawled to the top got to ring a bell and win a prize. The inflatable was designed to show off the beloved Adult Swim animated series “Rick and Morty”. It was not only fun but also a clever way to engage fans.
3. Pirate Ship Peephole Wall
Designed to resemble the side of a pirate ship and match the event’s theme, this inflatable wall provided a fun backdrop to the event. Attendees could peak into each peephole to see a different Adult Swim scene. Check out Adult Swim’s Instagram page to see it in action!
4. Pirate Ship Inflatable Slide
This inflatable, shaped like a pirate ship, provided a fun and engaging activity that fit perfectly with the event’s pirate theme. It also served as a fun background and can be spotted in many photos of the event.
5. Giant Inflatable Skull Entryway
Welcoming attendees into the Pirate Parrty was a giant inflatable skull entryway. This dramatic entrance set the tone for the entire event, making a strong first impression and drawing attendees into the immersive Adult Swim experience.
6. Captain’s Quarters
This Comic Con inflatable was also designed to fit the theme and look like a pirate ship. Attendees walked in to the immersive experience and Adult Swim videos were projected onto every wall. Check out this video to see it in action!
