October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every year Joy to Life, an Alabama-based foundation, hosts a 5K called Walk to Life to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. This year, Inflatable Design Group worked with Joy to Life to create multiple custom 5k inflatables to show off the foundation’s mission and dress up their annual 5k!
Joy to Life’s Mission
The Joy to Life Foundation was formed in 2001 by Joy and Dickie Blondheim after Joy’s own breast cancer diagnosis. Some of the Foundation’s main goals are to spread awareness about how important early detection of breast cancer is and to help provide mammograms to people who can’t afford them. The Foundation works with the Department of Public Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ADPH) to help provide free mammograms and have been able to provide over 10,000 mammograms each year!
Joy to Life Foundation spreads awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection in many ways. Some of the ways that the Joy to Life Foundation raises money and spreads awareness is by hosting annual fundraising events, selling merchandise, and having pink branded trash cans throughout several counties in Alabama. Walk of Life Annual 5k
One of the Joy to Life Foundation’s biggest and most successful fundraising events is their annual 5k. This 5k takes over downtown Montgomery, Alabama, and brings thousands of people together to celebrate life, spread breast cancer awareness, and remember those who lost the fight to breast cancer.
This year the annual Walk of Life 5k was hosted on October 21st. It proved to be very successful with the Foundation exceeding their goal of $150,000 in funds raised which equates to over 1,100 mammograms funded!
Inflatable Design Group collaborated with the Joy to Life Foundation to create a giant custom inflatable archway. This custom 5k inflatable was used as the start line for the annual Walk of Life breast cancer5k and served as a great, photographic reminder of what the main goal of the event and foundation. This custom inflatable archway was over 60 feet long and 24 feet tall!
