IDG Brings 21 Savage’s Vision to Life with Bold Concert Inflatables
What Happened to the Streets? is the highly anticipated fourth studio album by Atlanta rapper 21 Savage, released December 12, 2025 via Slaughter Gang and Epic Records. For its release, Inflatable Design Group was tapped to build not just promotional inflatables, but immersive works of art.
In collaboration with contemporary artist Olaolu Slawn, who goes by Slawn and whose original artwork serves as the cover and visual identity of 21 Savage’s project, we produced two 20-foot inflatable head sculptures that formed central pieces of the album’s promotional exhibition experience across the US and Europe. These monumental inflatables became iconic symbols of the cultural crossover between modern art and hip-hop.
A Global Art Rollout: Miami, Atlanta, & London
The inflatable sculptures debuted as part of an extraordinary promotional strategy that spanned continents and cultural institutions.
Miami Art Basel is an influential global art fair that is known for mixing together contemporary art, fashion, design, and cultural commentary. 21 Savage’s inflatable head appeared here first as a centerpiece during the event that has a history of spotlighting major cultural moments beyond gallery walls. The inflatable added a public art dimension to the album’s rollout, catching the attention of collectors, artists, and music fans alike.
Following its introduction in Miami, the piece traveled to Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, where 21 Savage and Slawn “took over” the institution with a special exhibit inspired by the album. This private, one-night only event featured 15 original artworks, including portraits of collaborators like Drake, Latto, and Lil Baby, anchored by Slawn and 21 Savage’s creative partnership. The inflatable served as a towering visual cue outside the museum, linking the music release with fine art in a way few album rollouts have before.
A second 21 Savage inflatable was installed in London’s Shoreditch High Street, one of Europe’s most trafficked cultural distrcits.. This area is known for its street art, creative culture, and prominence within the UK’s contemporary art scene, and the inflatable helped promote the album while also becoming part of the city’s landscape.
Slawn & 21 Savage Inflatable: A Cultural Collaboration
Slawn is a British Nigerian artist who is recognized for his dynamic spray-painting and mixed-media styles. His collaboration with 21 Savage on the What Happened to the Streets? album art merges mysic and visual art. Slawn drew inspiration from classic works such as Kerry James Marshall’s A Portrait of the Artist as a Shadow of his Former Self, while also adding modern, expressive elements when creating the album’s artwork.
These inflatables extended that artistic expression into three dimensions, turning the musicians’ creative vision into public, interactive art that fans could physically encounter, showing how inflatables can bridge promotional campaigns with cultural experiences.
Why Tuned-Up Promotional Inflatables Work
Unlike traditional billboards and posters, large custom inflatables create immersive experiences. They generate organic buzz when fans take pictures, share them across social platforms during art weeks, city events, and museum openings.
For What Happened to the Streets?, Inflatable Design Group’s inflatable sculptures helped connect the album’s story to the global art audience while also promoting the album.
